The goal of the Master's program «Accounting and Audit in Business Management» is to develop system knowledge and practical skills in the field of accounting, audit and taxation with the purpose of formation of accounting and analytical data for decision-making in business management.
The overall objective of the program is to produce formative knowledge and experiences with which students may cultivate their capacities for thinking creatively, developing their self-knowledge and powers of acting, and to apply these accounting abilities in business, on markets and other organizations.
If you choose to specialize in «Accounting and audit in business management», you will gain a deep understanding of how domestic and international companies control and evaluate performance, design incentives and allocate resources to facilitate innovation and value-creation, reach business goals and report financial information to shareholders and stakeholders.
Teaching is provided by specialists with practical experience and teaching experience in foreign educational institutions. Throughout the program you have the opportunity to apply your learning to practical examples and simulations with case studies, projects, team work and live presentations. Lectures are given by specialists with extensive teaching, research and consultancy experience.

The Master's Program «Accounting and Audit in Business Management» got ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) accreditation for the levels F1-F4, F7.

Masters in Accounting & Taxation are accredited by CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), and our graduates will be able to enter directly in to the operational level case study of the CIMA qualification.

 

 


Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
- build the accounting system in accordance with the philosophy and strategic business goals;
- develop a system of dataware of managerial decision-making in accordance with the characteristics of the industry, the nature of business transactions and other factors of business;
- form the accounting policy of an enterprise taking into account the types of economic activity;
- disclose accounting information in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards;
- generate, compile, summarize accounting information and develop on its basis forecasts for business entities;
- carry out selection of performers of accounting, analytical and controlling functions and organize the work of accounting staff according to their legal status and requirements of life safety and health protection of employees of accounting services;
- implement into practice relevant methods, types and forms of economic control, define items, tasks and directions of various types of control;
- organize projects in the field of accounting, audit and taxation in an international environment;
- to organize and carry out scientific research in the field of accounting, analysis, audit and taxation with the aim of producing new knowledge to solve existing problems of business at new efficient levels.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

A) COMPULSORY:
COMPULSORY COMPONENT OF THE AUTUMN SEMESTER:

GLOBAL ECONOMY
IEMA 680 E (4 credits)

In recent years the notion of globalization has become an integral part of the academic, political, economic and lay vernacular. Nowadays growing attention is being paid to the significance of processes of globalization for an understanding of complex political, social, economic and cultural change and its influence to managerial practices. A new, distinctive and inter-disciplinary approach to the globalization has begun to emerge. In this course, participants will critically review and evaluate these developments for management.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
HRPM 650 E (4 credits)

The aim of studying science is to build fundamental knowledge of theory and practice of social responsibility and appropriate professional competencies that ensure the formation of socially responsible behavior of its subjects (institutions). The subject of studying the science is theoretical, methodological, methodical and practical provisions of forming the institute of social responsibility.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY FOR ACCOUNTING, AUDIT AND TAXATION
ACAT 651 E (4 credits)

Master in accounting, auditing and taxation should be skilled by professional conduct of scientific and applied research, be used of effective research methods and techniques, getting qualitatively new scientific results on the basis of national and international experience. This course focuses at developing theoretical knowledge and practical skills in organizing and conducting research for professionals, providing resolution of specific practical situations.

INNOVATIVE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
EMBE 652 E (4 credits)

Businesses must be aware of changing market conditions including the introduction of new products and services both within and outside their own enterprises. Failure to do so puts a business at a competitive disadvantage. The course covers theoretical and practical aspects of the innovation process as an economy-boosting phenomenon. Coverage of the innovation life cycle enables students to analyze the causes and consequences of contemporary innovation economy. The course examines innovation both at micro- and macro-levels by managing innovation effectively as a prerequisite for the prosperity of an individual firms and the entire economy.

ACCOUNTING ORGANIZATION
ACAT 653 E (4 credits)

This course explores how the level of accounting organization affects the quality and terms of receiving accounting information necessary for management decision making, timely and qualitative preparation of accounting reporting. The course provides students with an understanding of scientific organization of accounting, control and analytical processes, as an integral part of management system and labor of people employed in accounting and managing the accounting staff.

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
ACAT 652 E (4 credits)

Examination of purpose, structure and basic requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards for the recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure of elements of financial statements to work out appropriate accounting policies. This course provides some practical skills in the application of procedures related to preparing and presenting the financial statements of individual entity and the consolidated financial statements.


COMPULSORY COMPONENT OF THE SPRING SEMESTER:

ACCOUNTING IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ENTITY
ACAT 654 E (4 Credits)

Dedicated to consolidation the already acquired knowledge in accounting, analysis and audit and improvement that professional skills in connection with management tools to increase the flexibility in preparing information provision of management decisions.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
ACAT 655 E (4 credits)

Study and application of theoretical, methodological and organizational questions of the financial analysis of the company based on the latest achievements of science with the world experience the implementation of financial and analytical works. Focus on how to analyze financial reports Ukrainian enterprises.
This course of financial analysis to help future professionals: learn how to use the content and output data for analysis, to examine the method of analytical processing of information, understand the organizational forms of financial analysis; to examine the method and organization of internal and external financial analysis solvency, liquidity, financial stability, cash and cash flow, the efficiency of capital company; be able to use the information financial analysis in business management, learn the correct knowledge and application management in enterprises of financial analysis; possess the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in professional activity.

ORGANIZATION AND METHODS OF AUDIT
ACAU 656 E (4 credits)

Study of audit procedure organization and audit services, mastering the methods of their performance by auditors (audit firms), and by internal auditors.
In the course study the organizational and methodological aspects of processing the audit of financial reporting and provision of related services with respect to the international experience are learned; the norms of the Code of Professional Ethics are studied; common errors and violations that occur in the accounting system of entities are analyzed; the main areas of quality control of audit firms' (auditors') activity are identified.


B) VARIABLE COMPONENT OF THE AUTUMN SEMESTER:

BUDGETING OF TAXES AND FEES IN THE ENTERPRISE
ACAT 661 E (4 credits)

Focus is at the calculation of planned tax payments, which are to be paid by the enterprise in future periods at the basis of the enterprise budgets indicators. Provides students with an understanding of the role of budgeting of taxes and fees in the: forecasting development indicators prediction; motivation to ensure corporate goals.

CONSOLIDATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
ACAT 662 E (4 credits):

Exploration of the theoretical, organizational and methodic tools for preparation, analysis and presentation of Consolidated financial statements.

STATE FINANCIAL CONTROL
ACAU 664 E (4 credits)

Teach students able to apply theoretical knowledge from state financial control in practice, skilled to apply the methodical receptions of control for the estimation of legality and efficiency of the use of state resources and property, systematization, generalization, registration and realization of results of control actions that come true by the different organs of state financial control in relation to the different objects of control.


VARIABLE COMPONENT OF THE SPRING SEMESTER:

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING
ACAT 663 E (4 credits)

Survey the provisions and use of accounting information by managers within organizations. Understand to make informed business decisions that support financial management and control functions. Course focused on the formation of modern knowledge system that combines accounting concepts for making effective management decisions in order to formulate the business strategy to ensure sustainable competitive advantages in the business environment. The objectives of the course are the use of the learning process opportunities for students overtaking the features of organization and presentation of information required in order to formulate strategic goals and their implementation to ensure the effective operating process of business units in the dynamic market environment.


MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN ANALYSIS AND AUDITING OF ENTERPRISE
ACAU 665 E (4 credits)

The study and critical analysis of the theory and practice of construction management information systems (MIS) and their role in business processes. Principles for allocating subsystems of MIS to provide information on the activities of enterprises in order to make management decisions. It focuses on the mastery of computer  systems and technology of accounting, analysis and auditing by their types, levels and functional purpose, the acquisition of practical skills in the use of application software solutions.


CORPORATE TAX AUDIT
ACAU 666 E (4 credits)

Mastering the theoretical and practical fundamentals of corporate taxation and control over taxpayers' compliance with norms of the Tax law.
In the process of learning the course there are studied organizational and methodical aspects of conducting the corporate taxes audit, provided knowledge on certain requirements of the International standards on quality control, auditing, review, other assurance, and related services while performing separate tasks of corporate tax audit and provision of other types of audit services in the field of taxation (planning of audit and provision of other audit services, formation of audit evidence, drawing up the audit documentation (working papers), audit reports).


C) DEGREE PROJECT IN ACCOUNTING AND AUDIT IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND PRACTICAL TRAINING MODULE
(AUTUMN SEMESTER) (30 CREDITS):

The main objective is to develop students’ ability to conduct an independent research in the broad area of Accounting and audit in business management, based upon appropriate methodological considerations and relevant theories within the areas covered by the master program. The students should also be able to present their study in a written Master Thesis as well as orally.
