The Department of Auditing (founded in 2000) is one of the leading departments of the Faculty of Accounting and Tax Management. It specializes in researching theoretical and methodological issues of auditing, forensic accounting, internal control, public financial control, forensic investigations, the development and functioning of information systems and technologies in accounting, analysis, and control, including their digitalization processes.

The department's activities contribute to integrating the university into the European educational space by adapting teaching methodologies, educational technologies, and research to European and global standards, as well as achieving sustainable development goals.

The department has its own emblem, which symbolizes the basic principles and professional direction of the work of the collective.

Gothic shield of national yellow and blue colors, on which are based green hills, crowned with a white colony of an ionic order with an academic confederacy on the capitals. The column is a midday sun. In the focus of the shield is an expanded book. The inscription AUDIT is mirrorly painted in the center of the board. Under the shield, the blue ribbon with gold stripes on the edges contains the inscription: Probitas – Competentiam – Independentiam.. The general frame of the coat of arms is a green circle with a circular inscription: State University KNEU named after Vadym Hetman, the audit department, 2000.

The Department of Auditing is an integral part of the scientific school of accounting, analysis, and audit at the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. It continuously contributes to the development and preservation of academic traditions. In particular, the department has initiated the development of research on auditing and financial control; developing the theoretical and methodological framework for auditing in Ukraine; advancing the organizational principles of accounting, control, and business analysis, considering the information and communication environment and digitalization; scientifically justifying and expanding the principles of budgetary control as a component of the information-analytical system of public finance management in Ukraine; developing theoretical, methodological, and applied aspects of control and business analysis in the context of innovative investment mechanisms and digitalization of its processes; conducting research on the formation, disclosure, and auditing of information related to sustainable development goals, which are a modern priority for the accounting and auditing profession.

The department actively collaborates with numerous businesses, institutions, and organizations to implement research findings and develop innovative ideas for the "Accounting and Taxation" specialty, including the educational program "Digital Accounting".

Traditionally, the department maintains long-standing partnerships with research institutes, educational institutions, and government institutions of Ukraine and enterprises (including IT companies and leading audit firms). Collaboration has been established with the World Bank, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MESU), the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA), the Audit Chamber of Ukraine, Audit Public Oversight Body of Ukraine (APOB), the Accounting Chamber, the Union of Auditors of Ukraine, the Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Ukraine, and other organizations in the fields of scientific research and regulatory activities on current issues related to the development of independent and public audit, professional ethics in the context of digitalization, and the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Collaboration is also carried out with foreign professional organizations, particularly for the certification of higher education students, in partnership with international institutions such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

The Department of Auditing was the first in Ukraine to launch the "Digital Accounting" educational program under specialty 071 "Accounting and Taxation", within the field of study 07 "Management and Administration" for the Bachelor’s level of higher education. In 2024, this program received accreditation from the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA) with the definition of “exemplary”.

Currently, the department is involved in the implementation of all Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programs at the Faculty of Accounting and Tax Management. Additionally, it teaches the mandatory course "Accounting" across other faculties of KNEU.

The Department of Auditing is a team dedicated to continuous scientific exploration. The faculty members, while preserving and strengthening the traditions of the Kyiv National Economic University, foster an innovative and collaborative environment built on mutual support and strong professional relationships.
