On May 30, 2024, the lecturers of the Department of Accounting and Consulting, together with students of the “Accounting and Audit” program at the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education, attended a webinar as part of the Global Academic Dialogue by AICPA/CIMA on the topic “Participation and Behavior of Management Accountants in Business Decision-Making.”

In this Global Academic Dialogue, Associate Professor Zack Enslin (University of Pretoria, South Africa) examined aspects of the cognitive behavior of management accountants in the decision-making process and discussed what this might mean for their participation in business decision-making. Specifically, he addressed the involvement of management accountants in business decision-making; the cognitive biases inherent in human decision-making; and the prevalence of these cognitive biases among management accountants.
